Target Tutoring - Why You Should Study For the Tutoring Certificate

Target Tutoring - Why You Should Study For the Tutoring CertificateTarget tutoring is the investment that's necessary to make as a beginning student. This is probably the only way to achieve a career in teaching for the rest of your life and to create your own network of trusted, valued peers.First, you should sit down with a curriculum and develop a study plan that will satisfy your standards. Then you need to interview the best people to take your class. As you go through the interview process, you'll find that there are several places to go for tutoring that are local. The most obvious one is the school or college boarder exam. These aren't required but they're highly encouraged. Then the major factor to your decision is your rate. There are a number of companies that specialize in target tutoring and you should be able to find a company that suits your needs. There are also a number of companies that focus on home study. The point is to choose a tutor who is willing to teach the cou rse at a fair rate. Your tutor should be able to meet your requirements and will be able to transfer you to the class of your choice. The successful candidate will be able to work with your family members and learn to pass the written test and the tests on the college level. This is going to be the foundation of your job and the future of your life. You can create your own target tutoring company with a local owner of a tutoring center. This person will probably be willing to pass along your case to other owners of centers. However, this is a less than ideal way to do business and you want to make sure you're getting the best.Once you find the right person, you should go online and study for the certification exam. You'll want to pass the written portion and the on the job portion. This is the only way you're going to start your new career. Make sure you're going to do well and learn what you need to learn.

What is it Like to Attend Cornell University

What is it Like to Attend Cornell University The tutors behind Varsity Tutors are not just here to teach theyre sharing their college experiences as well. Maggie is a 2011 graduate of Cornell University where she studied Environmental Engineering. She currently tutors in New York City, specializing in many subjects such as Calculus tutoring, Chemistry tutoring, and Computer Science tutoring. See what she had to say about her alma mater: VT: Describe the campus setting and transportation options. Are there buses or do you need a car/bike? Maggie: There is a bus system that all freshmen and transfer students can use for free, and it is free for all students during weekends and after 6pm. The campus is super hilly, but that is part of what makes it beautiful. Many people ride bikes despite how hilly Ithaca and the campus are. VT: How helpful are the academic advisors? Maggie: One of the downsides of going to a big school is you do not get a lot of individual attention unless you seek it out. But if you do ask for help, your advisor will provide. Because I studied abroad, I met with my academic advisor, Engineering advisor, and study abroad advisor many times, and they were always available. My academic advisor also helped me to get a research internship my junior year and wrote a letter of recommendation for graduate school. VT: How would you describe the dorm life rooms, dining options, location, socialization opportunities with other students? Maggie: As a freshman, everyone lives on North Campus. Starting sophomore year, students start living off campus and in their sorority/fraternity houses. And by junior/senior year most people live off campus. I lived in a dorm my freshman and sophomore years. There are always tons of activities going on in the dorms. Every Friday there was a tasty treat in the lounge of my freshman dorm (smores, pie, cookies, etc.), I took a free cooking class at the dorm with my roommate sophomore year, and during finals there were free massages in the dorm lounges. In terms of meeting people, it depends on what dorm you live in and how outgoing you are as a person. I lived in an all-womens dorm my freshman year and had trouble meeting people, but, in general, dorms are a great place to meet people on a big campus because you see your dormmates all the time. VT: Which majors/programs are best represented and supported? Maggie: Any and everything. Cornells motto is any person, any study and I honestly believe you can get a degree in anything there. They even have a program you can apply to that allows you to make up your own curriculum. VT: How easy or difficult was it for you to meet people and make friends as a freshman? Maggie: As a freshman, I lived in a single in an all-womens dorm, which was somewhat isolating. I had trouble making friends. With so many students, its easy to get lost at Cornell. That being said, I know plenty of people who easily made friends either because they lived in a different place or were more outgoing than I was. The best way I made friends was by joining the club volleyball team and meeting people in my dorm. VT: How helpful is the Career Center? Maggie: The Career Center is helpful if you ask them for help. They will edit your resume and help you prepare for interviews. They also set up career fairs during the year. VT: How are the various study areas such aslibraries, student union, and dorm lounges? Are they over-crowded, easily available, spacious? Maggie: The facilities at Cornell are beautiful and well maintained. There are a multitude of libraries all over campus where you can study in groups, use computers, have private cubby areas, etc. VT: Describe the surrounding town. What kinds of outside establishments / things to do are there that make it fun, boring, or somewhere in between? To what extent do students go to the downtown area of the city versus staying near campus? Maggie: The surrounding town of Ithaca is small and quirky. It has the most restaurants per capita in the United States, so the food is eclectic and delicious and probably my favorite part about the town. The downtown area, which is where many of the restaurants and shops are, is called the Commons, and throughout the year they hold festivals there like Apple Fest and Chili Fest. There are also parks near the lake, an incredible farmers market, Ithaca College, wineries, and other small town, charming attractions. My other favorite part about Ithaca is all the hiking trails through the gorges and upstate New York scenery. Students access these trails themselves or join clubs or even take classes with Cornell Outdoor Education in order to take advantage of Ithacas outdoor attractions. VT: How big or small is the student body? Were you generally pleased or displeased with the typical class sizes? Maggie: I would describe Cornell student body as big. There are about 20,000 students if you include graduate students. Because Cornell is so big, you are never limited in what you want to study or do. But Cornells size makes it hard to develop relationships with your professors and fellow students unless you seek out smaller classes. I had friends who were able to get to know professors through their research. My biggest regret was not building better relationships with professors, and I think that had I gone to a smaller school this would have been easier. VT: Describe one memorable experience with a professor and/or class. Perhaps one you loved the most or one youregretthe most. Maggie: My most memorable professor, I had twice during my senior year. He insisted he was terrible at remembering peoples names so he made us all come up with fake wrestlers names (mine was Mad Eyes), and he would only call us by these weird nicknames. After I graduated, I ended up asking him for a recommendation for graduate school, and I signed my email as Mad Eyes because I was afraid he wouldnt recognize my real name. Spanish Grammar Comparisons, Negation, and Superlatives

Spanish Grammar Comparisons, Negation, and Superlatives Suzy S. As you learn to speak Spanish, youll need to be able to put together  a variety of phrases. Here, Spanish teacher Jason N.  shows you how to  describe nouns in relation to each other Spanish Comparisons In English, as in every language, we compare people, places, and things  regularly. Spanish comparisons aren’t too different, there are just new formulas to learn. The good news is theyre very basic and you can learn them for the long-run in a couple of hours! Heres the most important one: Here are some examples:  Obama es más alto que Clinton (Obama is taller than Clinton)  Mi carro es más rápido que el carro de Juan (My car is faster than Juan’s) Now its your turn to practice! (The answer key can be found at the bottom of the article) 1)  Jim is smarter than Alex. 2) Alison is stronger than Brook. 3)  The office at TakeLessons is nicer than the office I previously worked in. Equal Comparisons Sometimes one thing isnt better or worse than the other. For that, were able to compare things that are the same. Here’s another important formula: There are also endless combinations that can go in the blanks. For example:  Obama es tan alto como Clinton (Obama is as tall as Clinton)  Mi carro es tan rápido como el carro de Juan (My car is just as fast as Juan’s) Negative Expressions in Spanish It’s especially easy to make things negative in Spanish    just add a ‘no’ in front of whatever youd  like to negate. For example: No es chistoso Daniel (Daniel isn’t funny) Negation in Spanish can also be redundant and emphatic, in that sometimes it repeats itself. While double-negatives in English cancel themselves out logically, in Spanish double-negatives are frequently used to convey negation. Check out this example: No tengo nada (I have nothing) The direct translation in English is “I don’t have nothing,” which sounds odd and would imply the speaker has something. In Spanish, however, this is correct and simply means you have nothing. Once you practice your Spanish some more, these nuances will become second nature to you. Superlatives in Spanish If you want to isolate one person, place, or thing as being the most something (a superlative), you just put the definite article (el, la, los or las) before the given phrase. For example:  Esta mujer es la más guapa (This woman is the prettiest)  Florida es el estado más hermoso de los Estados Unidos (Florida is the most beautiful state in the United States) You may be surprised to realize that the word most doesn’t exist in Spanish. There is also no way to add the superlative suffix ‘est’ at the end of words. It may seem odd that it just translates to ‘the more,’ but it works because using the definite article and context help readers and listeners  understand what you mean. Practice  translating these sentences (again, answer key is at the end of the article!): 1)  Jim is the smartest man alive. 2) Alison is the strongest woman alive. 3) The office at TakeLessons is the nicest office in the United States. Bonus Words: Irregulars Wait there’s more! Here are other Spanish comparison words including confusing irregulars: Mayor vs. menor (older vs. younger) Alto vs. bajo/a (in Mexican Spanish it’s often ‘chaparro/a’) bueno (good) becomes  mejor (better) malo (bad) becomes  peor (worse) Viejo (old) becomes  mayor (older) joven (young) becomes  menor (younger) Your Spanish tutor can help you better understand double- (and sometimes triple-) negatives in Spanish! My advice is to explore the language through movies, music, and books, and work with a good tutor. Its also a good idea to make sure you know how to pronounce Spanish words before you start practicing them. Happy learning! Answer Key Comparisons 1) Jim es más inteligente que Alex. 5 Authentic Steps for Getting Over Your Fears - Introvert Whisperer

Introvert Whisperer / 5 Authentic Steps for Getting Over Your Fears - Introvert Whisperer 5 Authentic Steps for Getting Over Your Fears We all have demons to deal with, and they are called fears. At times, they are the only force that keeps us from performing well in our lives. Very often we think that we are introverts, we just don’t like socializing much, and it is alright to stay in our comfort zone. But, in reality, things are different, and we want to socialize, but we just don’t feel confident enough. In fact, this is the fear of rejection that bars us from talking to someone. Is there any way to feel comfortable and not let the fears slip near us to unlock our potential? And, the answer is yes we can say goodbye to our concerns with these five authentic steps. 1. Enlist What Haunts You First of all, we need to be cautious enough about what is causing the real trouble. Most of the times we don’t even know that something is making us uncomfortable. So, take your time and list down all those fears that might be bothering you. For example, you may fear Rejection Failure Disapproval Getting Fired Someone’s Wrath Or Any Situation you don’t want to face Keep in mind one thing. So many times the problem becomes difficult to solve only because people don’t know if it exists or not. Thus, the very first problem is recognizing the existence or diagnosing the disease- then begins the rest of the task. 2. See If Your Fears Are Real or Not?   Many times, people burden their souls only with abstractions. They overthink about something that doesn’t even exist in a vacuum, but it makes them face their fears like fools. Let’s take a simple example. Many times sitting in the courtyard at the time of night one may see a hand waving at the front wall or a scene that may seem too horrible enough for one to scream out loud. And, in reality, that waving hand or an awful view might be nothing more than an illusion or a shadow of some object placed on a tree of the back wall. In our daily lives, there are so many shadows that make us afraid. 3. Talk to Yourself   You are in effective mentor for yourself and you even don’t know it. Once you know there is something that haunts you and that thing is real, then now is the time to talk yourself about it. Just stand before a mirror or take a pen or page and start writing down whatever you feel. This is the best ever way to talk about the things that haunt you. Just write about the problems and their solutions write in a manner as you are talking to someone. The practice is more like a therapy that consoles one’s heart and it works just like a person shedding tears on some close friend’s shoulder. 4. Don’t Fear the Failures   Fear of the failure is the most horrible monster. It can slowly decay one’s potential and talent without letting the person know about the loss. If you know that fear to fail in not achieving what you want to get is stopping you from taking the first step, then immediately take the first step. Just imagine, that you fail to achieve what you want. Now, what will happen? You will just fail, but learn something new and not to repeat the mistakes. You will come up with another plan to do something better. At least, you wouldn’t have any regret that you didn’t try. 5. Look Around for the Examples   Very often the thought what will other say, or the feeling that we will become a laughing stooge stops us from doing something in life. Now, just think one thing that all other people are human beings. They can do and repeat the mistakes that we are capable of doing. So, why to worry about doing something that everyone is capable of? Realization of the fact that we are all dealing with human beings should be enough to get away with fears. Author Bio:

Major scale solos should be slow and deliberate to start with. You might even think of each individual note as a separate syllable. The blues scale based ones, however, give you more room to move around and can vary in tempo as much as you want them to. Though Ive provided a checklist of relevant criteria above, determining the right time to branch into advanced forms of expression is not an easy call. While I advocate learning the two modalities in tandem with one another so as not to confuse soloing with any other musical skill, you may find yourself wanting to play along with songs by favorite artists. I wholeheartedly support this. If youre particularly solo-hungry, I recommend experimenting with notes in the major scale while practicing accompaniments. See what works for you. Find a pattern that says what you want it to. Picking out individual notes of major chords (as opposed to playing scale-based patterns one note at a time) is a great place to start. I recommend doing this as early in the curriculum as you feel compelled to. Expression is an area regarding which your guitar teacher can provide only guidance. Determining what or who you want to sound like is key to constructing a musical identity. For the most part, its best to learn as many chords and as much theory as possible before beginning to play guitar solos. However, practicing tricks along the way (i.e. picking out melodies from basic chord progressions) may expedite it and provide an otherwise inaccessible sense of direction. FAQs about the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

FAQs about the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) If you are the parent of a high school student, college is likely on your mindand so is how to pay for it. Many parents are not as informed as they could be about the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), says CEO and Co-Founder, Eileen Huntington of Huntington Learning Centers. Most families understand that the FAFSA gives them access to federal student aid in the form of federal grants, work-study and loans, but the financial aid process can still be quite overwhelming, says Huntington. She answers some of the most frequently asked questions about federal aid: What are the requirements to receive financial aid? Students must hold a high school diploma or General Education Development certificate and be enrolled in an eligible program as a regular student seeking a degree or certificate, maintaining satisfactory academic progress. They must be a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen with a Social Security Number, not be in default on any federal student loans, not have any convictions for the possession or sale of illegal drugs, and register with the Selective Service System if a male and not currently on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces (more details on all of this at https://fafsa.ed.gov). What do students need to complete the FAFSA? A Social Security Number or Alien Registration Number, federal income tax returns, W-2s, and records of taxed or untaxed income, bank and investment records, and an FSA ID, which parents and students can create at https://fsaid.ed.gov. Do students need to wait until their/their parents taxes are filed to complete the FAFSA? No. For the 2018-2019 school year, students will report their 2016 income information (not 2017). What are the federal student aid deadlines? The FAFSA for the 2018-2019 school year was available on October 1, 2017 and students/parents can apply between then and June 30, 2019 for aid for the 2018-2019 school year. For the 2019-2020 school year, students/parents can apply between October 1, 2018 and June 30, 2020. Are state student aid and college aid deadlines different? Yes, they might be. Check online at https://fafsa.ed.gov/deadlines.htm. In New Jersey, for example, the fall and spring term state aid deadline is September 15, 2018. Each college might have its own financial aid deadline, so students need to contact the colleges theyre interested in attending to find out for sure. Do students need to wait until they are accepted to a college before completing the FAFSA? No. They do have to list at least one college that will receive their FAFSA information, but students can list all schools they are interested ineven if they havent applied or been accepted yet. If they submit the FAFSA and later consider a school that they did not list previously, they can submit a correction to the FAFSA online. Are grades taken into consideration when financial aid is awarded? No. If students want to continue receiving federal student aid, however, they must maintain satisfactory academic progress. This essentially means they must meet a minimum grade-point average and complete a certain number of credits each year. Each school has its own policy, so its a good idea to check with them. What happens after a student submits the FAFSA? The U.S. Department of Education processes the application within 3-10 days, depending on whether the student applied online or not. Then they will receive a copy of a Student Aid Report (SAR), which summarizes the information provided on the FAFSA and includes an Expected Family Contribution. Colleges use this figure to assess eligibility for other federal and nonfederal student aid and creating students award packages (and distributing that aid). These are some of the most common questions about financial aid, but Huntington encourages parents and students to visit the Federal Student Aid website for more information about the FAFSA and federal aid for students: https://fafsa.ed.gov.
